Primal Rage is a four issue comic book series written by Christopher Knowles and published by Sirius Comics between 1996 and 1998. The first issue was illustrated by Kevin Rasel, while subsequent issues were illustrated by Tom Artis.
This series of comics serve as a tie-in to Primal Rage, detailing the game's events. The story is told from the point of view of Taze, a tribe leader who serves Blizzard and narrates the story events, serving as both a spokesperson for Blizzard and mediator with the other tribes. Diablo acts as the main antagonist of the story.
Synopsis[]
In the first issue Diablo begins his move by attacking Armadon on his underground lair. Diablo emerges victorious, so Armadon's surviving followers teleport him away to safety. Through telepathy Taze learns of those events and warns the followers of Talon.
In issue #2 Diablo challenges Sauron, who in the comics has no defined allegiance and is treated as wild card. Sauron's army easily subdue Diablo's followers, but Diablo wins the fight and forces Sauron's soldiers to defect to his side. During this time Taze contacts Armadon's followers and offers them help, allowing Armadon to reclaim his cove from Diablo's followers. Diablo and his followers move after Vertigo next, but is unable to do much due to being weakened, so Vertigo's sorcerers offer an allegiance instead.
The third issue begins by introducing Talon and his tribe of hunters. During one of their hunts Vertigo and her followers show up to challenge them, while Diablo watches from afar. Vertigo easily defeats Talon, who is left for dead but survives thanks to his followers sacrificing themselves. Blizzard finally makes his move, attacking Chaos and his followers and easily defeating them. Diablo moves into the Graveyard, which is shown to be a mystical place where the ultimate battle is to take place.
The stage is set for the final battle between good and evil, which is the entire focus of the final issue. All of the other gods also arrive at the site to watch the fight, with Armadon and Talon empowering Blizzard and Vertigo empowers Diablo with her dark magic, while Chaos is forced to watch while in a debilitated state. Sauron is shown to have survived, also arriving at the place to watch with his few remaining loyal soldiers. Slashfang, who appears very briefly, chooses not to interfere or pick any side, staying away from the conflict. As Blizzard and Diablo duke it out Sauron finally decides to pick a side, devouring Diablo's followers who betrayed him and causing a mass battle between all followers present. Though Diablo initially gains the upper hand by blinding Blizzard, Blizzard turns the tables by using his freezing powers. Vertigo abandons him and vanishes, while the other gods watch as Blizzard defeats Diablo for good.
